Day of Reckoning is just about a week away. I've been working hard on the new swamp board I'm building (photos coming soon), but I am also working on a couple of new 15pt lists. One of the achievements for DoR is to use three different casters at least one time each during the event. Since Xenophonica and I play Cryx, it was an easy decision on what to do to achieve this. She has pDenny and I've got pGoreshade, so we only needed to get one more caster to make a happy family. After doing some searching and research, I decided on the new caster I would add to my regiment: Iron Lich Asphyxious. Good old pGaspy.
I wanted to put together an aggressive list that was all spellcasty-like. I looked over Gaspy's spells and abilities, and he just fit for the new play style I wanted to go for. Plus, with him I've finally found a way to utilize the Withershadow Combine and I can finally put them in a list. I know a lot of players might discourage using them in a 15pt list, but I am going to give it a whirl. Xenophonica put them to the table last week and was nearly in prime position to pull off Dark Industries.
I am going to assemble and paint Gaspy this weekend and table him as soon as I get him done. After some thinking, here's the list I will be running:
pGaspy
Deathripper x2
Skarlock Thrall
Withershadow Combine
Bane Thralls (Leader and 5 Grunts)
I want to have some utility, and I don't want to focus so much on warjacks. Of course I could alter the list, removing the Bane Thralls and Skarlock Thrall to add in a Warwitch Siren and Slayer. My idea with this list is to put the Bane Thralls to work, get as many spells off as I can, and hopefully wipe out infantry for the assassination. If I get in a pinch I can feat and really drop the hammer if/when needed. I really want to work the Combine in, which is forcing the list to be what it is. Without them the list would be vastly different, but I feel like having them makes things much better. The Deathrippers serve as arc nodes for slinging spells, hopefully stopping my opponents before they get too far. If nothing else they serve as a distraction from the real work going on behind the scenes.
Either way I plan to work out this list and give it a shot. I am hoping it goes in my favor, as all my battles so far have. I am looking forward to Gaspy and to DoR next weekend.
Do you have any suggestions on the list?
