Day of Reckoning is just about a week away. I've been working hard on the new swamp board I'm building (photos coming soon), but I am also working on a couple of new 15pt lists. One of the achievements for DoR is to use three different casters at least one time each during the event. Since Xenophonica and I play Cryx, it was an easy decision on what to do to achieve this. She has pDenny and I've got pGoreshade, so we only needed to get one more caster to make a happy family. After doing some searching and research, I decided on the new caster I would add to my regiment: Iron Lich Asphyxious. Good old pGaspy.
I wanted to put together an aggressive list that was all spellcasty-like. I looked over Gaspy's spells and abilities, and he just fit for the new play style I wanted to go for. Plus, with him I've finally found a way to utilize the Withershadow Combine and I can finally put them in a list. I know a lot of players might discourage using them in a 15pt list, but I am going to give it a whirl. Xenophonica put them to the table last week and was nearly in prime position to pull off Dark Industries.

Cryx Bane Cavalry - It's a Thing
Ever since way back in 2012 players have been talking about the smoke Privateer Press has been blowing about Cryx receiving some cavalry units. We've even had some mentions by Privateer Press about there being Bane Cavalry, but those mentions soon turned to whispers that only the Lich Lords could comprehend.
It looks like there could actually be some live in Bane Cavalry, though, thanks to a new image that surfaced on the net recently. Matt Wilson, in all of his greatness, posted the following photo on his Twitter page:
I don't know about you, but I am totally excited for this. I'd love to see more Banes hit the battlefield, moving even quicker than normal and hitting like two Mack trucks at once. I really think Privateer Press is pushing us Cryx players to make armies full of nothing but Banes. I'd say something like this:
Lich Lord Terminus
Bane Thralls + UA
Bane Knights
Bane Cavalry
Bane Lord Tartarus
Anything else you want because it doesn't matter
Hell, I'd play that list. And I'd love it. More coming soon, I hope.

Toruk's Will, Alterior Motives
Day of Reckoning is coming up - 2 weeks to be exact - and I've been working like a maniac to get things ready for it. Part of this work is getting my 15pt list together to play at the event. I've worked tediously, and I've finally got a list down that I can work with.I'll be playing Cryx, since I switched my allegiance to that faction in solidarity. After perusing different units and tactics, here's the list I've come up with:
pGoreshade, the Bastard
Deathwalker
Seether
Stalker
Warwitch Siren
Necrotech and Scrap Thrall
Bane Lord Tartarus
I also have a unit of Bane Thralls (which took me FOREVER to paint) for Goreshade's feat, but they aren't included in the point list, which is awesome.

Snow King of the Hill Gaming Board
It's taken me nearly a week and a half, but I am finally done. The King of the Hill game board that I've been working on for Day of Reckoning is complete.Sans a few details and the main hill in the middle (which I've decided to make modular anyway, so it can be done later) the board is done. I've poured a lot of time into this and really hope players like playing on it. In fact, I'll be playing a game tonight on the board for the first time. I can't wait.
Here's a shot of the completed board:
It's not extravagant, but it's got some character. The big hill will sit in the middle of the board, and players can remove it when they want to use other terrain and play a regular game on it. I'll be donating the board to our local game store for the event.
I picked up some more trees for the board, and all the ones pictured on it are not glued down. I'm not too sure about what I'll do for the forests. On one hand I want to make a base to set them on, while on the other hand I want to just leave them all modular so they can be switched around.
The board sports two impact craters, two snow mounts, and a broken road. All new additions that I've not done before. I'm really looking forward to playing on it. My next board is going to be a killer, as I've got a big idea for a swamp board. This time around I'll be making a lake, sculpting a large tree, and working with some structures. I'll be sure to post progress shots of that once I get started.

Crafting A Battlefield
I've been working diligently over the past few days on a project, and I haven't been able to post much about it, so I finally will here. Next month, while we won't be able to attend Warmachine Weekend in St. Louis, I've decided to put on a WarmaHordes event right here in our hometown. The event, which I've dubbed Day of Reckoning, will be an 8-hour event dedicated to Warmachine and Hordes. There will be pick-up games, demos, and even a league tournament that we've put together. For this event I'm working on two different board to play on, and they've consumed all my time.
The first of the two boards will be a King of the Hill scenario board. It's basically a large snow board, with some added terrain effects. Here's a shot of the board so far:
Since this shot was taken I've added sand to the board to give it texture. So far it's got two craters, two small mounds, and even a broken road. In the middle will be a giant hill, which is the centerpiece for the scenario. I've decided to make it modular so you can play on the board without having to play the scenario, and so you can play other scenarios on it. I'd say the board is about 90% done at this point, as it only needs paint and I'll call it complete.
It's basically a 1 1/2" thick sheet of insulation foam glued to a 1/2" thick sheet of plywood. It's not terribly sturdy, but it won't break on you. I am going to donate it to our local game store so that it can be used to play games on, and this way I won't have to travel with it. I also have a 4'x3' board at home I use, so I can afford to donate this one.
At the event, players will get an achievement point for playing a game on this scenario board, which will help them get prizes. Once the board is done I'll be working on another one, specifically a swamp-like board. I am going to experiment with some Envirotex Lite for water effects, and going to try and sculpt my own tree using floral wire and Sculpey clay. The possibilities are endless - I just wish my time was.

And So It Begins..
From Focus To Fury. It has a powerful sound to it, doesn't it? I'd like to think so. This blog is centered on Warmachine and Hordes, the wargames created by Privateer Press. We'll be posting our thoughts, opinions, and much more about the game at regular intervals. There will be tons of photos, reports, lists, and much more right here for your enjoyment.
I'll be on the front lines of this blog, along with Xenophonica. I'm sure more voices will join the cacophony soon, and there will be plenty to see here.Xenophonica and I are both Cryx players with Warmachine, and we play Circle Orboros in Hordes. I am also a backseat Menoth and Trolls player when I want to switch things up. We'll soon have representatives of the other factions on board to help churn up discussion.
Keep your eyes open, there's more to come.
